There are many places nearby that are worthy of a visit, a day could be spent in the beautiful cathedral city of Salisbury, just 8 miles away, home to the tallest cathedral spire in the UK.
One of the UK's finest stately homes, Wilton House is a few miles to the west of Salisbury. Built over 450 years ago, you will be able to experience living history at it's very best. Heale House (Sting's neighbour) with it's beautiful gardens and garden centre is also worth a visit.
No visit to the South of England should be contemplated without allowing time to visit some of the oldest historical sites known to man. The world famous ancient stone circle of Stonehenge is just a stone's throw away, with the even older stone circle of Avebury, the ancient English burial sites at Silbury Hill and West Kennet Longbarrow less than 15 miles to the north. |
